Ultimate Rare #51 Boban! 12/17/25

We are starting off with a unfortunate cancellation of the 51st Ultimate Rare Boban! As the holidays grew near, the Max Rarity Store decided to close early so they can shop for gifts for their loved ones which resulted in Ultimate Rare #51 Boban! to be postponed. Ultimate Rare will return after New Years so stay tuned!!!!

Gotham City Smash Thursday Yearly End Tournament 12/18/25

With 31 entrants this was not an easy bracket as 3 New York City players joined in the fun: Wolf player LRA_START, Joker player vitz, and Sephiroth player Justinjpeg. We got a great run from Mii Brawler player Louie who took down Peach player Bluespark7 with a 2-0 victory in Winners Round 1 but unfortunately lost to Ness player PkChris 2-0 and got sent to losers. However, that didn’t stop him as he pushed his way defeating Young Link player Aminayski in a 2-0 set following an upset on Captain Falcon player SirDunk, who recently had the most insane run at the last Wolfie Wars for the semester the week before. It was a really tough battle for the 2 players, as SirDunk easily took the first game, but then the Mii Brawler player started adapting pretty well against the Captain Falcon player and both went to last hit last stock in game 2. As things looked tight, Louie managed to clutch out the second game forcing it to a game 3. Louie then got the download on SirDunk as game 3 started to look more into Louie favor by punishing all of SirDunks options. As Sirdunk was about to take his second stock, Louie ended the set, with a clean back air, taking the set 2-1 knocking out the Captain Falcon player placing him 13th. Louie would then face Daisy player Queen for Top 8 losers side, but would eventually be defeated in a 2-0 set placing him 9th place.

There was another great run from Daisy player Queen who had the toughest bracket path where he had a really close set with Min Min player Meka for his round 1, but Queen clutched it out with a 2-1 victory. Queen made an insane upset over the now Pyra/Mythra player Mr. E (formerly Lucina main) with a 2-1 victory. It was a tough match for both, as Mr. E was about to close out the stock, but Queen started playing like a pro and made the biggest comeback by defeating the Pyra/Mythra player while on last stock kill percent and Mr. E with 2 whole stocks. Queen then clutched it out with a very risky off comittable off stage fair to end the set with a bang, sending Mr. E to losers. Mr. E would defeat Kirby player hew 2-0, but would eventually be stopped by NYCs Joker player vitz with a 2-0, ending the former Lucina player’s run at 13th.

Queen would face off with Mario player Zaphros. It was a brutal match but at the end Zaphros takes it with a 2-1 victory over Queen sending the Daisy player in losers who would then face off Mii Brawler player Louie for the Top 8 losers side spot. Queen takes it 2-0 over Louie, but would eventually fall to Fox player Stratas 2-0, ending the Daisy player’s run at 7th .

We have a great run from Mario player Zaphros, making a big upset over NYC Joker player vitz with a very close 2-1 set sending the Joker player to losers where vitz defeats Steve player Sorbi 2-0, stage a big upset on Pyra/Mythra player Mr. E 2-0, but would get team killed by NYC Wolf player LRA_START in a very close game 3 ending it with a 2-1 victory for the Wolf player ending vitz’s run at 9th. Zaphros would continue his run by defeating Daisy player Queen in a tough 2-1 set, but would be defeated by Kazuya player Wheezer in a 2-0 set. Zaphros would then be eliminated by LRA_START in a tight 2-1 game placing the Mario player in 5th.

Before we end the Gotham news we have to talk about the insane run from Fox player Stratas who went on a tear!!! Stratas was about to be upset by Yoshi player FunkMasterJeff but clutched it out game 3 completing the set with a 2-1 victory. He would then have an upset over Sephiroth player Justinjpeg 2-1, but would be taken out by Wheezer 2-0. That fueled the fox player as he was determined to get his runback on the Kazuya player by making a insane losers run, defeating Min Min player Meka 2-0, Daisy player Queen 2-0, Bayonetta player Amaryllis 2-1, and making a big upset over Wolf player LRA_START in a insane 2-1 set. Stratas fought his way through to Losers Final to get his runback on Wheezer who lost to Ness player PkChris in 3-1 set on Winners final. Wheezer took the whole set with a 3-0 victory ending the Fox players run on 3rd. He would finally face PkChris again in Grands as the two clashed it out on a game 5. PkChris takes it home yet again over the Kazuya player winning another 1st and placing Wheezer for 2nd finishing the last Gotham City tournament for the year as it will return after the New Year comes, what a great bracket!!!

Shield Breaker #30 12/30/25

Surprise!!! I guess Christmas miracles do come true, as Shield Breaker #30 was announced the day after Christmas after believing there would be no Shield Breaker until after New Years!!!

Let’s kick it off as we got a solid run from Min Min player MeKa who got a clean 3-0 over King K. Rool/Palutena player Pong but his greatest fight would be against Ness player PkChris. MeKa almost made his biggest upset yet, but PkChris takes it over and wins it with a 3-2 victory, forcing MeKa to continue his run through losers. He would defeat Mii Brawler player Louie in a tight 3-2 set, but would be taken down by Yoshi main Raptor 3-0, ending MeKa’s run in 13th.

Who loves fruits? We’ve got a great run from Pac-Man player VB3 who unfortunately lost his first round 3-1 to Dark Samus player Zach67671. That did not stop him as he went on a crazy tear defeating Game and Watch player GutBustr 3-0, Sora/Zero Suit Samus player BopIt! 3-0, making a big upset on Sora player Hikari in a intense 3-2 set, then defeating Rosalina and Luma player Entendre 3-1, but would be eliminated by Shulk player SoulArts 3-0, placing the Pac-man player an honorable 5th.

The super fighting robot Mega Man player MintyFlesh made a couple of upsets after having to win his first round through a DQ as poobadooba could not make it. He would play a Mega Man ditto set against Mega Man player petebr0 and clutched it out with a 3-1 victory. He would then be sent to losers by Shulk player SoulArts 3-0, but this is where things get interesting!! As MintyFlesh went to losers, he defeated Sora player DTP in a crazy game 5 set, ending the match in a 3-2 victory. The Mega Man player made a huge upset over Bayonetta player Amaryllis in a 3-1 victory and would have to face the Pyra/Mythra player Mr. E. The battle was very intense, but Mr. E ends the set in a 3-2 victory leaving MintyFlesh at 5th.

Finally, we got our Shulk player SoulArts who did amazing having to go through Entendre 3-0, MintyFlesh 3-0, but would lose to Kazuya player Wheezer in a 3-1 set. Shortly afterwards, SoulArts would defeat VB3 in losers 3-0, and then take down Mr. E 3-0 to get his runback on Wheezer, but sadly his run ends there, as Wheezer takes it 3-1 again placing the Shulk player in 3rd. Wheezer would face off PkChris again in Grand Finals after losing to him in Winners Final in a 3-1 set, but at the end PkChris takes it home again with another victory 3-1 over Wheezer!! This guy is undefeated y’all!!!

Weekly Recap 12/15/25

by Aminayski

Welcome back to the Long Island Smash Weekly Recap. Today is going to be a bit of a long one as there are so many things to cover. Let’s dive into it, shall we!!!!??

Ultimate Rare #50 THE BIG 50

Ultimate Rare has reached their 50th Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament Event as it was celebrated with food and drinks, but enough with the fun let’s talk about the tournament itself!! First, we got another game 5 set with Joker player Gmx and returning Kazuya player Skeet who only played Snake the entire tournament. It was a back to back set until Skeet came on top, defeating the Joker player, sending him to losers side of the bracket where he fell victim to revenge to Sonic player Revenge Of The Duke in a 3-0 set placing him 9th.

DQs do not matter if you are willing to start your run in losers!!! Min Min player [REDACTED] showed up late to the party, causing him to DQ a set with Cloud player Blacthulhu who would advance to face off with Mario player Ajred. Ajred came out on top sending Blacthulu to losers 3-0. However, that did not stop [REDACTED] from making a losers run as he defeats the now Diddy Kong player SkorZ 3-0  and Little Mac player No T. 3-0 to advance to losers side top 8 with no games dropped. But the veteran Min Min player ran into a red hot Dukester who took the set 3-0, placing [REDACTED] in 7th place. The runback is real as Young Link player Aminayski rematches his winners round 1 against Mario player SMT.

Back in Winners Round 1, It was a very close game 5 set where SMT brutally wins the first game, but that drove Aminayski to adapt harder as he took the next 2 games giving him a 2-1 lead against the Mario player as he was about to close out on game 4 he missed a big opportunity and didn’t go for the punish which caused SMT to finally get the kill and force the set to go to a game 5. Game 5 was brutal, as both players were playing with time and taking things very cautiously but SMT defeats the Young Link player after a long set sending him to losers. Aminayski would eventually go on a losers run defeating players such as long time returning Kirby player hew 3-0, Skeet 3-1, and another long time returning player Sora player Echro. Echro played different characters for matchup purposes and took a game with Roy, but Aminayski would eventually defeat the player in a 3-1 victory advancing him to face off the player who sent him to losers, none other than Mario player SMT who was on a string of excellent tournament results. Things didn’t look good for the Young Link player, as SMT would take the first 2 games creating a 2-0 lead, but Aminayski bounced back in the next 2 games, forcing another Game 5 between these 2 players. It was an intense match, but Aminayski defeats SMT in a reverse 3-0 and advancing the Young Link player to Losers Semi-Finals, to face against Rosalina player Entendre who ends his run in a 3-0 victory, placing the Young Link player 4th in the tournament.

Entendre would face off Mario player Ajred who defeated the Rosalina player earlier in Winners Semi-Finals with a 3-1 victory. Entendre got their runback against the Mario player, ending it with a 3-0 victory advancing to Grand Finals to face off Peach Player Player 4. It was another intense Grand Finals but at the end Player 4 won it all with a 3-2 victory.

Gotham City Smash

To start off we got returning Luigi player GuyGuy, however he decided to give the green plumber a break and sent out his R.O.B defeating his first round Byleth player Christian 2-0 advancing to Winners Quarter-Finals. PkChris would defeat GuyGuy 2-0, sending him to Losers to be defeated by Isabelle player ArchAngel in a 2-1 set ending his run in 9th place. I guess Peach is on vacation to delfino plaza because Peach player Cody also decided to give the princess a break and sent out his Min Min as he defeats Sonic player Revenge of The Duke 2-0 and Rosalina player Entendre 2-0, but would fall into the hands of Kazuya player Wheezer who defeated him in a close match 2-1 sending his Min Min to losers side of the bracket where he would be defeated by Archangel placing Cody 5th place. Isabelle player Archangel made a great losers run after being defeated by Rosalina player Entendre 2-0. He would go on to defeat Peach player Deezhands 2-0, Sonic player Revenge Of The Duke 2-0, GuyGuy 2-1, Alph player Nico 2-0, Cody’s Min Min 2-0 to advance in Losers Semi -Finals to duke it out with Fox player Stratas. The set was very close as it was so hard to determine who would be the victor but in the end Stratas takes the kill and advances to Losers Final leaving Archangel 4th in the tournament. Stratas would face off Kazuya player Wheezer who was defeated by PkChris in Winners Finals. As the two faced off, Stratas put his all but Wheezer takes him down with a electrifying 3-1 victory placing the Fox player 3rd as Wheezer advances to Grand Finals to get his runback on PkChris. As we reach the end of the tournament, PkChris takes it home with a 3-0 victory against Wheezer.

Wolfie Wars Monthly 17

Stony Brook University is back at it with the last Wolfie Wars Smash Tournament for semester. As we start off with a great upset from Young Link player Aminayski who defeated Yoshi player Raptor in a 2-0 victory and advanced to play against Samus player Rawk. Rawk defeated the Young Link player 2-0, sending him to losers where he would defeat Bowser Player X!Akuma 2-0 who also played Palutena. He then would face off in a intense match against Steve player MixyCat :3 as it was a battle for time. Mixycat :3 takes the set defeating Aminayski 2-1 with only 5 seconds left to the final game last hit last stock as Mixycat :3 was at 166% and Aminayski was at 124% leaving the Young Link player 13th place in the tournament. Mixycat :3 advances to the top 8 qualifiers in a ditto against Steve player sorbi in which sorbi gets the victory 2-0 advancing to Top 8 losers side ending Mixycat :3’s run at 9th place.

Yoshi main Raptor did not let his loss affect him as he went on a hunt in losers side defeating kirby player hew 2-0, Sora player Echro 2-0, Bowser/Snake player Glial 2-0, and Sora player Bopit! 2-1 to face off Bayonetta player Amaryllis for Losers Top 8. Amaryllis came victorious with a 2-0 over Raptor advancing to Top 8 losers and leaving the Yoshi player in 9th place. Amaryllis would defeat Samus player Rawk in a very close 3-2 set placing Rawk in 7th, but would eventually be defeated by Kazuya main Wheezer 3-0 placing the Bayonetta player in 5th.

Captain Falcon player SirDunk really knows how to dunk on those players as he went on a tear!!! He would defeat poobadooba 2-0 and Glial 2-0 before getting sent to losers by Cody, where he would tear it up by defeating Min Min player Meka 2-0 but would soon fight a hard battle against Steve player sorbi. His Cloud didn’t work out so he went back to Captain Falcon. Sorbi was at a 2-0 lead until SirDunk was awoken and started going off on sorbi game 3, game 4 and finally defeats the Steve player Game 5 in a reverse 3-0 leaving the final score 3-2 ending sorbis run at 7th place. SirDunk also defeated former Pichu now Joker player layla in a 3-1 set advancing to Losers Semi Finals to Kazuya player Wheezer. Things did not look good for SirDunk as Wheezer gets the upper hand with a 2-0 lead but giving up is not in SirDunk’s agenda as he started to tear the Kazuya player for the next 2 games, forcing it to a game 5 where things were so high at stake but then SirDunk ended the set by dunking on Wheezer with a dair spike defeating the Kazuya player with a upset placing him 4th.

As SirDunk advances to Losers Finals to get his runback against Peach player Cody who was defeated by PkChris in a very close Game 5 set in Winners Finals with the Ness player winning 3-2 over Cody, SirDunk starts off strong, but Cody showed that he was prepared for this moment leading the set 2-0. Sirdunk was on fire on Game 3 by having 3 stocks to 1 against Cody but Cody played out of his mind and reverse 3 stocked the Captain Falcon player taking the win 3-0 placing SirDunk at 3rd. Cody advanced to Grand Finals to also get his runback on PkChris as the two clash head to head. PkChris came out strong and takes it home again with a 3-1 victory against the Peach player who ended up in 2nd as the Ness player continues his dynasty by claiming another 1st place.

Here is the bracket link! Top 8 graphic to follow soon! :)

Shield Breaker #29

If you think the Sunday snow was random how about the Top 3 going Random!!! We are going to start with a great run from Palutena player Finn who would defeat Mii Brawler player Louie 3-1 before being defeated by Sora player Hikari 3-1 forcing him to continue his run in losers where he would defeat Sonic player Revenge Of The Duke 3-1 to advance in Losers Semi-Finals to face against Mii Swordfighter player Taiyo in which Taiyo defeats Finn 3-0 leaving the Palutena player in 4th place. Taiyo would continue his run after a random ditto with Pac-Man Yufine in Winners Semi-Final which resulted in Yufine’s 3-1 victory over Taiyo. He advances to Losers Final so he can face Hikari who also was defeated by Yufine in a random ditto 3-0 in Winners Finals. Hikari clutched out the win 3-0 placing Taiyo in 3rd. As Hikari advances to get his runback on Yufine in Grand Finals they surprisingly agreed to a Mii Swordfighter ditto in the first game which Yufine took the first game. Things got serious after that as they both switched back to their respective mains. It was a very close set as Hikari forced a game 5 by hitting a random bell up b combo in which for some reason it looked like yufine was about to escape but was scooped slowly back to Soras up b and dies. As game 5 plays out Hikari wanted to get the reset but Pac-man player Yufine rejected it by ending game 5 in his favor taking it home with 1st place and 2nd place for the Sora player.

Here is the link and graphic below:

Things are getting serious as the Long Island Summit is 2 weeks away!!! Every qualified player is giving it their all in these tournaments. Who do you think will come out Top??? Which underdog are you rooting for????

Weekly Recap 12/8/25

by Aminay Santos (aminayski)

Welcome back to Long Island’s Smash Weekly Recap! Small week with no Shieldbreaker, but we definitely have really interesting results!

To start off we have Ultimate Rare #49 where we a hot Game 5 set took place between Joker player Gmx and Falco player Louis Dio in Winners Quarter-Final. Louis Dio was up by 2 games, Gmx almost reversed as he switched to Luigi after his joker was defeated twice, but unfortunately for him Louis Dio manage to clutch out the game 5 sending Gmx to losers where he would be eliminated by Mario player SMT in a 3-0 game placing him 7th place. As for someone who is out for revenge we have Sonic player Revenge Of The Duke who teared up this bracket defeating Mario player Ajred in 3-1 set, Rosalina player Entendre 3-1 where they went diddy kong the first game before switching to Rosalina, and Peach player Player 4 3-1 in Winners final which resulted in Revenge of the Duke sitting in Winners Side Grands. Entendre made an insane losers run, defeating SMT 3-1, Louis Dio 3-0, and Player 4 3-1, to advance to Grand Finals to get their runback against Revenge Of The Duke. It was a well fought battle where they both were even 1-1 until Entendre pulled away, beating him 3-1 and forced the set into a reset where Entendre secured a 3-0, defeating Revenge of the Duke. Great run for Revenge of the Duke though to secure wins on some of his bracket demons!

Graphic and link below!

Now we have Gotham City Smash where Ganondorf/Marth player Sef joins the tournament defeating Yoshi player FunkMasterJeff in a close game 3 set ending it 2-1 in Winners Round 1. In Winners Quarter-Final, PkChris who surprisingly played Fox defeated Sef 2-0 sending him to losers where he would defeat King K. Rool player SkorZ 2-0 before ultimately getting defeated by R.O.B player Comoli 2-0 leaving him placing 5th. We got another return from Cloud player Deedha who had a really great run, defeating SkorZ to advance to Winners Semi-Final to face off PkChris, who played Fox again, and was sent to losers where he would go on a run defeating Peach player DeezHands 2-0 and a very close set against R.O.B player Comoli where Deedha clutched out game 3 advancing to Losers Final. Stratas defeated Deedha 3-0 ending his run at 3rd. Pkchris edged out Stratas in grands to secure another Gotham victory.

Everyone is improving so much and as these players are starting to get more serious for the near coming Long Island Summit. Who will take the crown!???? See everyone next time for the weekly recap!!!!!

Weekly Recap 12/3/25

by Mario Macchiarulo (supermario)

Welcome back to Long Island Smash Network’s Weekly Recap! Here, we provide a wrap-up of all the highlights and headlines from the week of tournaments around Long Island. This week was an interesting one. Let’s get into it!

Blackout Wednesday? More like Smash Bros Wednesday. Really solid turnout for Ult Rare this week with some returning faces rounding out a solid top 8. Zach67671 played five sets on the day, with FOUR of them going to game 5. Talk about a stressful day at the local. Skeet also made a rare appearance- beating Ajred 3-2 in WR2. DTP edged out the battle of Soras in grands to secure another Ult Rare win. Solid day overall! Top 8 Graphic and bracket link below.

Arcadians are awesome! You know what else is? Shieldbreaker is not closing! That’s right, Vallahan eSports is under new ownership (clutch buyer!)) and Shieldbreaker shall continue! Shieldbreaker’s 2nd ever Arcadian occurred and plenty of talent came out to reap rewards. Yufine took it all in game 10 grands against Taiyo, with solid runs from Rawk, SMT, SirDunk, MomHunter9009, Bluespark, and T-sizzle rounding out top 8. Nice to see everyone coming out for an arcadian. The hidden bosses have been revealed! Graphic and bracket link below.

And now for the hugest event of the week! Originally going to be a sendoff, the ‘final’ Shieldbreaker was appropriately re-named as a rebirth, but it kept all the awesomeness! A bracket so loaded that tons and tons of talent were left even out of top 16. SMT notably got an upset win over Hikarizard, building off positive momentum from the arcadian. Finn had an awesome run beating Rawk, Baren, and Slade to make top 8. All 6, But No 7 and Wheezer played TWO game 5 Kazuya ditto sets (Kazuya Mishima). PkChris took it all again. Great stuff all around, and most importantly, Shieldbreaker shall continue! Top 8 Graphic and bracket link below.

Another awesome week for Long Island’s locals with lots of great runs from some great players! Summit is approaching… stay tuned for another week of locals!

Weekly Recap 11/25/25

by Mario Macchiarulo

Welcome back to Long Island Smash Network’s Weekly Recap! Here, we provide a wrap-up of all the highlights and headlines from the week of tournaments around Long Island. This week was an interesting one. Let’s get into it!

Starting with Ultimate Rare #47 The Russian Machine taking place on November 19th, an 11 man bracket turned out to be an all-out dogfight. To start the stream, supermario and Ajred played out a contested 5 game set in Winners Quarters, mirroring their previous set, and like last time, Ajred took it to set up a set against KeMonito. Following a 3-0 victory over Vorhees, KeMonito edged out Ajred 3-2 and went on to take the entire tournament by defeating player 4 twice. Some highlights included intriguing top 8 appearances from Vorhees and SMT, along with a 4th place finish for supermario. After defeating GMX and Vorhees, supermario played against SMT (SuperMarioTyler) for the first ever time, and the two Marios (the former plays zss, yes) duked out a 5 game set where supermario secured victory. Ajred would secure the double over him in losers-semis before a defeat to player 4 in losers finals. Really fun tournament! See top 8 graphic and start.gg link below.

The next day, a 17 attendee Gotham kicked off, with 4 PR players in attendance. Some really interesting matchups throughout the bracket with a lot of strong players. PkChris took home the bracket in dominant fashion- only dropping 1 game using Ness, doing the double over Stratas. Top 8 was rounded out by solid runs from Bluespark7, Mixycat :3, Nico, Christian, and Hikarizard. Stratas had a solid run with 2 wins over Amaryllis and a 2nd place finish. See top 8 graphic and start.gg link below!

Now for the biggest event of the week- Shieldbreaker Monthly #5- with a $250 pot bonus. With that type of money involved, everyone was bound to turn up and sure enough they did. 35 entrants in singles with invaders like LRA_START, Apple Reviewer, Gaius, vitz, Slingshot, and BIG CRUMB coming out to duke out with LI heavyweights Cody, SoulArts, Amayne, Wheezer, Raptor, pango, GuyGuy, DTP, Hikarizard, SirDunk, and Yufine. Plenty, plenty of amazing players filled the bracket. Hot sets and upsets to note: SirDunk 2-0 Amayne in WR2, Slingshot 2-0 Wheezer in WR3, BIG CRUMB 2-1 Raptor WR2, Revenge of the Duke 2-1 Entrendre LR2, among many others. Cody took home 1st place without dropping a set- defeating Gaius, SoulArts x2, and All 6 But No 7. Gaius, LRA_START, and Apple Reviewer made the most of their invasions by placing 7th, 5th, and 5th respectively. Check below for Top 8 graphic and bracket link!

Another competitive week for Long Island’s locals with some new and returning faces getting some spotlight. The road to summit continues! Stay tuned for another week of locals!

Weekly Recap 11/18/25

Community Recap for Long Island Smash Network, 11/18/25!

by Mario Macchiarulo (supermario)

Welcome to the first edition of Long Island Smash Network’s Weekly Recap! Here, we provide a wrap-up of all the highlights and headlines from the week of tournaments around Long Island. This one was a huge one! 4 tournaments took place, with 2 of them being Long Island Summit Qualifiers! Let’s get into it!

Starting with Ultimate Rare #46 Fellas in Paras that took place on November 12th, there was a ton going on. Gaius was making their debut at Ultimate Rare fresh off a Fusion Aracadian win, SoulArts returned, and Cloud player Deedha returned from a small break. A ton of close sets took place- Ajred edging out Aminayski 3-2 in WR1, Gaius edging out Deedha 3-2 in WR1, among others in the early losers rounds. Gaius won it all in style- beating Louis Dio, KeMonito, player 4, and SoulArts twice (after first losing in Winners Final), to top off an impressive victory. Deedha also topped off a strong losers run with 4th place- defeating Verbatim, Aminayski, and KeMonito along the way. Nice to see an interesting mix of players face off this week. See below for the top 8 graphic and bracket link!

Moving to Gotham City Thursday on November 13th, a loaded bracket was in order. Amaryllis, layla, PkChris, Wheezer, and Stratas were all in attendance. A main thing to note is Christian’s huge Winners Round 2 upset over Wheezer. Bracket was tough- with a lot of solid players having to face off early in losers, but that’s the beauty of smash! PkChris topped off a solid bracket win beating layla x2 and Amaryllis. See below for the top 8 graphic and bracket link!

https://www.start.gg/tournament/gotham-city-smash-ultimate-thursday-11-13-15/events

Now, to the two hottest events of the week. Firstly, Ultimate Rare Friday 12 Edition- the first of two LI Summit Qualifiers. Tons of hot sets- vanchy taking the set 3-2 against player 4 in Winners Quarters, Yufine closing it out 3-2 against KeMonito in Winners Quarters, and Yufine getting another close upset against DTP in Winners Semis. Vanchy did excellently to get to winners side grands, beating Yufine, but was stopped by a sharp DTP losers run. DTP secured the summit spot in game 5 of true finals. Awesome stuff! See below for the top 8 graphic and bracket link!

https://www.start.gg/tournament/ultimate-rare-friday-12-li-summit-lc-qualifier/events

And finally, the final spot for LI Summit was decided at Shield Breaker #28- with a loaded 24 player bracket in action. Some of Long Island’s best turned up for the big event- with players like Raptor, MintyFlesh, pango, Finn, SirDunk, and Yufine, all vying to get the coveted last spot. SirDunk got off to a great start with a tense game 5 win against Mintyflesh. Yufine went on an utter tear- logging PR wins on Hikarizard and Amaryllis before getting sent to losers by SoulArts. Meanwhile, Raptor, after losing to Stratas 3-1 in Winners Round 2, won 4 sets in a row, including against Finn, KeMonito, and Hikarizard, to get to Losers Quarters. With MintyFlesh bowing out to layla in Losers Quarters, the final summit spot was all to come down between Yufine and Raptor’s set. With some solid play, Yufine scored a 3-1 victory against Raptor and secured the final LI Summit Spot. All the while, PkChris defeated layla in a game 10 true finals to secure his 2nd local win of the week. Top 8 Graphic and bracket link below!

Molloy Edges out Farmingdale 2-0 in a Tightly Contested ECAC 4v4 Crew Battle

It all begins with an idea.

ECAC Collegiate 4v4 Crews may be an online league, but when the Molloy University Lions and Farmingdale State College Rams were slated to face each other in the final match of the Division A regular season, there was only one option: to play the match offline. Molloy and Farmingdale were no strangers to each other, as 3 years prior in a collegiate offline league (named the CESL Long Island Fall 2022), the two teams faced off numerous times with different teams. Both colleges had A teams and B teams with highly contested matches, including Farmingdale’s A team (featuring players like SoulArts, Deaft, and Petrikov) defeating Molloy’s A team (featuring players like 2thiccnicc [now Torna], GutBustr, and [REDACTED]) in the final match to lift the trophy. Familiar faces were also present in both school’s B teams, with Empirony (Farmingdale) and supermario (Molloy) having numerous close face-offs. Yesterday on November 13, 2025, at Farmingdale’s esports facility, the rematch finally happened.

Personnel were different for both sides this time around, but the familiarity was clear. Farmingdale’s Varsity lineup for the game consisted of well-known LI talent: Louie (Mii Brawler), Thomas (Cloud), NikShadow (Little Mac), and VB3 (Pac-Man). Wildogz (Palutena) is also on the stacked roster, but unfortunately could not make this match, which perhaps made a difference. Molloy brought along 5 players, with 2 of them being unknowns in the LI space: Fenris (Kazuya) and Knightunio (King Dedede). Nonetheless however, LI’s premier veterans Torna (Sephiroth) and yufine (Pac-Man) topped off a lineup complemented by supermario, LI’s co-residential ZSS who is no stranger to tournaments.

In a 4v4 format there are a ton of mental factors and the crew battle environment forces players to play differently and take matchups in a lot of interesting ways. In Game 1, Molloy led with a strong foot in Torna, while Farmingdale led with their own strong foot in Louie. A very close game that Louie nearly took with an F-smash on the ledge, but Torna played around Brawler’s raw power really well and took the game 1-0. Farmingdale brought in NikShadow, where Torna was able to take advantage of the favorable matchup (Sephiroth vs. Little Mac) and took 2 more stocks. Molloy then brought in their unknown wildcard- Fenris the Kazuya, who put in an absolute shift: taking NikShadow’s final stock without losing any, and edging out VB3 in a janky bout decided by hydrant shenanigans. Molloy now had a 7-3 lead. Farmingdale brought out Thomas, who was tasked with a great comeback. After Fenris was out, Molloy sent in supermario, and despite essentially being down the entire game, managed to just be scrappy and evasive enough to make a close 1 stock game, taking 2 stocks off Thomas to set up Yufine for a smooth finish. 1-0 Molloy.

It was not broken so it was not fixed, Molloy led with Torna again. He went on a tear-beating VB3 with 1 stock remaining and taking 2 stocks off Louie before succumbing. Molloy entrusted supermario to edge out stocks, and so he did, finishing off Louie and taking two stocks off of NikShadow. Fenris was sent in again, taking care of NikShadow, but not before losing 1 of his own stocks. Thomas was again the last resort and kept up the positive momentum by cleaning up Fenris and setting up an even 3 stock showdown with yufine. It was 3 stocks to 3.

Thomas, being quite experienced with the Pac-Man matchup, played excellently. Using disjoints really well and never letting yufine truly get going, the game was tight the entire time. Yufine pulled away with a slight lead on the final stock, and despite Thomas’s solid survivability, managed to end the game with an ice cold Z-drop apple to give Molloy the 2-0 victory. From the win, Molloy has moved all the way up to 6th seed in the entire Division A but still are behind Farmingdale (2nd seed) in the standings due to an inferior stock difference (54 to Farmingdale’s 78). However, the win is a huge morale boost for Molloy going into the Division A playoffs.

Farmingdale’s Twitch Stream viewers were treated to a “thug finals” featuring SoulArts and Torna. Vibes and gameplay were great throughout the night. Offline crews are one of the best things about smash, and this one absolutely did not disappoint. It’s highly recommended to check out the full footage from the Twitch Vod, because there was some fascinating and high quality smash being played from both sides. Undoubtedly, there is a chance that Molloy and Farmingdale can face once again in the Division A playoffs. If that happens again, it shall be played offline again, and maybe even at a venue that spectators can come watch live… (?)
